Social Media Addiction
We are living in the Internet era. The whole world is shrinking and becoming gadgets. This is the kingdom of the internet. All of us have become now the slaves of our gadgets. We call this modernism. We have the latest technology in hands and we have access to the world where we cant imagine to travel even.
With the invent of the computer and the cell phone and with the growth of telecommunication we have developed so far in the last twenty years.
Easy and cheap access to the world has made us well informed and updated about the discoveries of the world, about the history and political situations, about the disturbances and wars, and also about the culture of unknown nations.
Through easy and cheap use of the internet, we have learned many things but at the same time, we become addicted too. We have lost so many things. We are too busy in using social media that we forgot the sense of presence in the real world. Social media which is the plate form where we meet new and different people, we chat, we share opinions and ideas, and we are concerned about the likes and dislikes of people,
Social media consisting of Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Instagram and many more have kept us too much busy that we spend the time of our exercise, sleep and family on social media. Social media is controlling our lives. It is an addiction which is controlling our lives in many ways.
Like in the past we used to meet our friends and family directly to their homes but we now see them in our smartphones so we don’t bother to walk or take out time for them.
This addiction of social media has created problems for people and new generations. It has made them mentally and physically sick. Like all addiction, this has also had psychological and physical effects on human lives. If we do not control ourselves from this addiction we will be unable to be productive for society.
Treatment for Social Media Addiction
1. Take out time to walk.
To reduce the control of social media and its addiction it is best to go with the time table. There should be a specific time to go out for a walk, either an the evening or in the early morning. In the meanwhile, you can notify your friends that you will be offline for a while.
2. Stop Tapping your phone.
This seems to be impossible but we have to restrict our mind and should avoid using the phone for some ties. Keep practicing. One day you will take control of your life.
3. Do not keep the phone in hand.
Never touch your phone when you are with friends or family, Keep it in your pocket or purse. Try to value your people and their lives, instead of the notifications of unknown people on Social media.
4. Remove the apps.
This seems to be the most difficult step. We have made our identity on social media which is mostly imaginary and unreal. Be realistic. Face the world as it is and as you are. Stop pretending. And also delete the app from the phone completely.
5. Be in a relationship.
If you are married or engaged then you have to give time to your loved ones the most Try to construct some events with them. Go for a walk or meet the families. Enjoy tea or Lunch. Have some book reading with them, create romance.
6. Be Creative and Active.
There are a lot of activities which you admire on social media but in reality, you do not participate in them for a single minute. It is time to come out of home, make efforts to clean the street, help poor and orphans or visit the library.
7. Ask Professional advice.
If the situation is out of control and you have lost the energy to resist the use of Social media then You must immediately concern any professional for correct advice and also to concern any psychologists. This addiction is not healthy at all in any means.
8. Start Writing.
In today’s world, our new generation is so much weak in writing and are much fond of typing. The skill of creative writing and reading has become weak. Everywhere at home or in schools, they have left writing and things are on computers and gadgets. To treat the addiction of social media it is also good way to go back to the past and start practicing the old habit of writing each and everything read. It improves the potential and creativity of the brain.
9. Join sports clubs.
Instead of indoor and mobile games, we must join any sports club which can give us a chance to play our favorite sports. Cricket, Football and all other sports help our body to be fit and active.
Social media has never been a curse, it is basic source of communication and to be connected to the whole world. But the issue which makes it an addiction is our lake of self-control on its use. If we manage our time and enhance our capacities and develop a good routine. Laziness and lake of hard work train our brain to indulge in fun and useless activities. Enhance reading and writing time. Most of all are in a company of literate and intellectuals and start learning.
